Please join us at this first webinar where our CTO, Turlif Vilbrandt, will demo the new plug-in -Symvol for Rhino.

The presentation will be broken up into 2 sections:   1) an introduction to Uformia, followed by a theory and overview of Symvol for Rhino;
2) a practical tutorial on using Symvol for Rhino to dynamically model a cell phone case.

The general aspects of true volume modeling and some of the unique features which Symvol for Rhino offers will be presented. The concepts include: creation of constructive relationships, dynamic modification of any aspect or feature of a model, automatic blending, always watertight Boolean operations and modeling, creation of arbitrary micro and/or cellular structures, shelling of any model, repairing, importing and converting meshes to watertight volumes, defining parameters/bookmarks, and swapping datasets and/or references on the fly.

Duration: 1.5 hr. presentation with 30 minutes questions/wrap-up.

Attendees must register to attend, and here you can also enter any questions or issues you would like to be covered in the webinar.

The session will be recorded and later posted online.

Thanks to Rhino for hosting us at their office in Seattle for this webinar.

As we mentioned earlier this summer, Uformia will be one of the exhibitors at the 3D Printshow in London, 19-21 October.  As we near the event, it is becoming clear that it will be as promising as it looks.

Uformia will be releasing a few new and exciting bits at the show (more on that later), and we are pleased to announce that Simply Rhino from the UK will be joining us at our stand where they will be premiering Rhino3D v5!

Tickets are selling out quickly, so order yours ASAP, and don't forget to sign up for some of the workshops or seminars.  A few that Uformia are participating in:

FRIDAY 19 OCTOBER

--> 14:15 - 15:45: CEO Panel Session

Cherie Stamm will be joining this panel session where companies in the industry are invited to discuss their company, business philosophy, and concept of future and how they intend to build it.

--> 17:00 - 18:00: Fabricating Reality

Turlif Vilbrant will discuss the significance of 3D printing and how software today does not capitalize on available computation nor is it able to drive 3D printers to their full capability. Turlif will discuss the history of humans trying to gain control over matter, and share his thoughts on the future directions required for 3D design tools to fulfill their potential.

SATURDAY 20 OCTOBER

--> 10:00 - 11:00: Saving the World From Polygons - Revolutionary Design Tools Based on New Mathematics, for the Future of Manufacturing

Turlif Vilbrandt will give a live, hands-on demonstration of Uformia's first product, Symvol for Rhino, and discuss Uformia's new modeling approach.

SUNDAY 21st OCTOBER

--> 15:00 - 16:00 Fabricating Reality

This is a repeat of the Friday show, in case you were unable to attend.

New Rhino plug-in from Uformia

Symvol™ for Rhino - Community is a volumetric modeling system plug-in. The user can think of clay or metal when working with Symvol. It means a volume is a piece of malleable material, not a collection of paper sheets glued together, as an equivalent analogy to existing modeling systems. Whatever is done during modeling, the volume created is always a valid solid object, unlike in traditional solid modeling, where objects can have cracks and other surface issues.

Symvol is used for:

  • 3D printing and digital fabrication
  • Teaching the basics of modeling
  • Rapid customization of designs and models
  • Modeling of organic and fluid objects
  • Jewelry design and fabrication
